Val-des-Prés: A Charming Village in the Clarée Valley

Val-des-Prés is a charming French commune located in the Hautes-Alpes department, within the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Nestled in the Clarée Valley, it offers a preserved and authentic natural setting.

The commune covers an area of 44.77 km², with altitudes ranging from 1,338 to 2,761 meters. It is part of the Briançon arrondissement and the Briançon-2 canton. The current mayor is Thierry Aimard, elected for the 2020-2026 term.

Val-des-Prés is made up of several hamlets, including Le Rosier and La Draye, which are traversed by the Clarée River flowing from north to south. The commune is bordered by Névache to the north, Montgenèvre to the east, Cervières and Briançon to the south, and Saint-Chaffrey and La Salle-les-Alpes to the west.

Among the historical monuments of the commune are the house with the sundial of Zarbura, the Church of the Annunciation of Val-des-Prés, and the Church of Saint-Claude.
